Rule #1

On Your mark, get set.... go!

Game begins at 8:00 am on Friday, July 10th and ends at 8:00 pm on July 12th. Your team can play at their leisure and availability. Please note, some missions will not be available the entire time period due to individual business hours. Those hours will be clearly marked in the app.

Rule #2

teamwork makes the dream work!

Teams may consist of 1-5 people. If you are a team of 1, please keep in mind most missions require a team member be shown in the submission.

Rule #3

Have list will travel.

All ages are welcome, however there is travel involved so teams will need to have access to transportation. Teams may use any form of transportation they wish and if needed, include a designated driver that is not part of their team.

Rule #4

There's an app for that!

The game is played on an app, therefore at least one member of the team will need a mobile device and the ability to download the Goose Chase app in Android or iPhone format. Because submissions are uploaded immediately, you will also need internet access via Wifi or cellular data.

Rule #5

The team that stays together...

Your team must stay together at all times! You may not split up and divide tasks. If a team member is unable to participate in a mission, you may not replace the team member and must play a team member down. Missions will have different requirements as to how many teammates must be included in the photo or video submission. Pay careful attention! If a mission says ENTIRE TEAM, your ENTIRE TEAM must be visible. How can you do this? Selfie? Set up the camera? Ask a stranger to be the photographer?

Rule #6

Proof!

Missions will require you to submit a text answer, check in with GPS, take a photo or take a video to earn your points. For video submissions, the app will only allow a video of 15 seconds. All submissions MUST BE rated PG. Any photos or videos that contain profanity or the judges deem to be inappropriate will be removed and the points for that mission will be deducted from your team’s total. Also, all photo or video’s submitted MUST be taken during the game time. You are not allowed to use stored photos or videos previously taken.

Rule #7

Get social!

We would LOVE for you to share your submissions on your social media accounts using the hashtags #WildGooseChase and #KLDFoundation. You will receive instructions on how you can share straight from the app on Facebook and Twitter, but we would also like you to share them manually on Instagram. Additionally, many of our mission sponsors have their own social media accounts and they would LOVE you to post to theirs as well. These will be listed in the mission details when applicable. Within the app, you will be able to see an interactive leaderboard and cheer on other teams. Remember again, only PG comments and positive competition between teams!

Rule #8

Follow the golden rule!

Some scavenger hunt tasks deal with strangers… It’s very important to be kind and respectful with strangers, and with that said – always be on guard and stay safe, use your healthy judgment when it comes to people you don’t know. NO harassing citizens of our community, physically or verbally for missions or photographs. It is their right to choose not to help you and you should respect that. Some of the missions require you to enter local businesses. You are a guest there and they will have other guests who are not participating in the Wild Goose Chase, so be patient and respectful. Also, these businesses are the ones who have donated the prizes for the winners, so please THANK them! Again, there will be more than 250 unique missions, so if there is a mission you would rather not complete, no problem!

Rule #9

Obey the law at all times!

You’re here to have fun, but to do so legally. If you break any laws at any time during any portion of the scavenger hunt, your team will be disqualified. NO mission will require you to trespass or enter private property. While driving to mission points, obey all traffic rules and wear your seatbelts! NO mission will require the driver to take a photo, video, or text while you are driving! Obey all rules for locations both public and private.

Rule #10

Cheaters never win!

We know winning is fun, but don’t let your competitive instincts drive you to ruin other people’s chances to win, if you do – your team might be disqualified. This means no cheating, lying, stealing, sabotaging, or copying other people’s work. Sabotaging other teams will result in disqualification.

Rule #11

Final answer!

All submissions will be reviewed by the judges. If a judge deems your submission to not fit the criteria of the mission, your team will lose the points earned for that mission. The final decision of the judges is final and there is no appeal process.

Rule #12

You get a prize... and you get a prize... and you get a prize!

Community Treasure Prize Packs will be awarded to the top three point scoring teams: $500 value for first, $250 for second and $100 for third. These Community Treasure Packs will be full of area business gift cards and merchandise. In the event of a tie, we will have a special tie breaking mission. We will also have additional prizes that will be given at random through out the weekend. If you win a prize, we will contact you with a location to pick it up or we can send them via snail mail.
