WHO ARE WE?

The KLD Alzheimer’s Foundation is a local, all volunteer run nonprofit that raises money for Alzheimer’s research and care, and promotes awareness of Alzheimer’s and other dementias. For those of us here at the foundation, our mission is simple - to see a world without Alzheimer’s.

In our first five years, the foundation has raised just over $222,500 to help care for those living with Alzheimer’s and to find a cure for this terrible disease. None of that would have been possible without the support of individuals and businesses in our community.

 WHY A WILD GOOSE CHASE?

2020 brought with it lots of challenges! As we were forced to pivot on our original plans for the year, we began to dream about how it was that we could still continue to stay committed to our “why” here at the foundation. We also began thinking of ways we could support the local businesses and individuals that have so generously supported us through out the years… and that is where the Wild Goose Chase was born! Our first year of the Wild Goose Chase was a huge success, and we knew we had to make it an annual event.

 SO WHAT IS IT?

The Wild Goose Chase is a Greater Lafayette community scavenger hunt that will take place on June 26th and 27th. The game will be played in teams of up to 5 people and done via a mobile app. Once the game goes live, the missions will be available for teams to complete and the teams that earn the most points at the end of the game win!

 WHAT DOES A MISSION LOOK LIKE?

Great question! There are 4 basic types of missions that teams will have to complete: text answer, GPS check in, photo submission and video submission. We will have over 200 different missions and teams will be able to pick which ones they complete and in what order. Missions involve general tasks like “Take a photo of a team member next to and imitating your favorite statue around the city”, then you upload your photo in the app to earn your points. Other missions could give you clues to lead you to a landmark to check in with your GPS through the app or answer a question about what you find at that location. There will be missions that are much more interactive and feature some of our amazing Greater Lafayette area restaurants and businesses. Maybe your mission is visiting a local pizza place and taking a picture of your team enjoying a pizza that you purchased.

 THEN WHAT?

As you upload your mission submissions in the app, you will also have the ability to share your photos and videos via social media. This gives everyone the ability to follow along with the fun as well as share some more love with our local businesses, restaurants, landmarks, historical sites and art works. The teams with the most points at the end of the game on Sunday win!

This we are REALLY excited about! Our local businesses who have sponsored missions are donating gift cards and merchandise to create Community Treasure Prize Packs.
