Our History



The KLD Foundation was founded in 2016 by the friends and family of Karen Lee Dubea. Karen was blindsided by younger-onset Alzheimer's at the age of 48 years old a few years prior to the formation of the foundation.

What separates us from other organizations is that we are entirely volunteer run and organized. Nobody on our board, friends, family, or Karen herself have ever benefited from the work or donations that we have received. We view the work that we are doing as fighting on behalf of Karen, with the hopes that a scientific breakthrough will happen in time for her. The KLD Foundation will continue to fight for the millions living with Alzheimer's, under the name of our fierce fighter -

What we do

We Advocate



Throughout the year, the KLD Foundation advocates for Alzheimer's programs to public officials and neighbors. We are striving to get word out about the public health crisis known as Alzheimer's.

We Partner



The KLD Foundation is represented on the board of the Alzheimer's Care Coalition, as well being a part of an Alzheimer's Community Forum that is led by the Alzheimer’s Association.

We Invest



We invest financially in our Alzheimer’s research and care partners: Alzheimer's Drug Discovery Foundation in New York City and Joyful Journey in West Lafayette, IN. These investments are helping at the local and global level!
